Hugh Hefner to sack Playboy bunnies amid financial crisis

Playboy bunnies have become the latest victim of the credit crunch.

Tycoon Hugh Hefner has been advised to cut back on staff at his multi-million dollar glamour empire as it struggles to cope during the global economic turmoil.

The 83-year-old has been told to lay off some of his staff at his Los Angeles and New York offices as soon as this month or go bankrupt.

I think I remember bunny layoffs back in the '70s. The bunny outfit is probably the only difference between Playboy Bunnies(hosts), a waitress at Hooters or a waitress at the Olive Garden. It sounded to me like the cutbacks would be across the board.

As a pre-teen in the 70's I remember being at the Playboy Club in Great Gorge with my two younger brothers being entertained(baby sat) by a bunny while my parents sat through a time share talk. We tormented the poor woman. When she heard my brothers and I conspiring to Rip off her tail, she told us she knew karate and it would cost us $10.00 bucks for the costume repairs. She became more distressed when she looked over and observed my little brothers and I counting up all the change in our pockets to see if we could afford the ten buck fine... She was pretty cool with us, and I have to say they get a bad rep. I always say drinks with a view is all good. Out of the time share thing we did wind up with a free gift, an Odyssey game that hooked up to the TV and we could play Pong and maybe something else. I can't remember too much about that game.

Playboy likes to claim that it prints pictures of naked women as a means to empower them. Uh-huh. It seems that Playboy and Hugh Hefner only like to empower women to the extent that they’ll take off their clothes, but when they open their mouths and have an opinion … well, then it’s time to roll out the demonization.
