    Buying a handgun in June

I'm planning on getting my concealed carry handgun license in June for my 21st bday (providing guns aren't outlawed by then) and am having a little trouble deciding what type to get. Do any of you have any suggestions as far as revolver vs semi-auto, as well as brands?

If you are in-experienced, or dont have a lot of time to spend on gun craft get the revolver.

Semi-Autos require a higher proficiency levl AFA holding them so they cycle etc

I recommend a semi auto though, higher capacity and way more choices

AFA which one, go rent some at a range and try them out, find the one that feels and shoots right for YOU

It depends on what is comfortable in your hands and how concealed you want your handgun(where you want to holster).

When I am home in the states I have a Glock .45 with a nylon inside the belt holster. On me it conceals very well because of the type of clothing I generally wear.

My Springfield 1911 longslide I carry with a shoulder holster but that is not the ideal concealed carry weapon.

You have to consider if you go indoors and take off your jacket what you are left wearing to conceal your weapon.

I normally wear a flannel shirt or a sweatshirt and the Glock and my particular holster works for me. You need to check out a few different guns and holsters and see what is comfortable for you. I have pretty big hands so it was important to have something that wouldn't float in my hand.

Don't rule out the Glock without seeing it. My wife, aka PeeWee shoots with the Glock without a problem. I think I have the Glock model 37.

DOnt let size dictate your gun choice, start w/ caliber, and stick w/ it

I carry a full sized 1911 IWB, and wont carry a gun thats caliber does not start w/ .4

Many prefer 9mms, but I would NOT get anything less than a 9mm for defensive use

.45 ACP is really the only caliber I would think of owning for a handgun. I don't see the point in another flavor. Extra shots, extra mags...

Years back I think it was from Ammodepot.com that I purchased a few dozen extra magazines for my 1911 longslide

the first thing I would do is check with the instructor. In Oklahoma if you qualify with a revolver that is all you can carry, but if you qualify with a semi-auto then you can carry either one.
