A Virginia judge has dismissed charges today against a young woman who shot herself in order to kill her unborn child in a case that has angered anti-abortion activists.

Tammy Skinner was a poor, desperate 22-year-old with two young children and another one on the way.

She said her boyfriend wouldn't pay for an abortion, so she carried her pregnancy to term.

Then she did the unthinkable.

I don't get this. If someone would have murdered her they would have charged with two counts of, but since she shot her own unborn baby that doesn't count as murder??

This is so sad, for two reasons.

One (obviously) is that a baby died. That's tragic in any right.

However, I also realize that this woman must have felt as though she needed to do this. After all, no one really wants to kill a babay unless they feel it's necessary. She should still be punished, but it's so sad that someone would ever feel like she would need to do this.

Very sad. And truely evil. How heartless someone can be to kill their own child, and in such a... a cruel way. And how pathetic this woman is for risking her own life in the process. And how SELFISH she is for doing this. Killing your own child because you feel you can't handle it. Man hath no greater hatred...

And besides, she could of had the child be adopted. Or perhaps had a relative or a good friend become the child's legal guardian. There are better ways to deal with these problems. At least give the child a chance at a good life.
