DALLAS A Dallas high school teacher faces a felony assault charge after police say she walked into a middle-school classroom and beat a teacher.
A police report says Paulette Baines attacked Mary Oliver in front of Oliver's class full of gifted students Friday. A Dallas school district spokesman says Baines was angry because Oliver told her daughter to quit loitering by lockers and go to class.
Police say Baines grabbed Oliver's hair, yanked her from her chair and dragged her across the room while punching her in the face and kicking her.
Baines has been placed on paid administrative leave. The 45-year-old North Dallas High School teacher is free on 25-hundred dollars' bail.
Oliver, who teaches seventh-grade science at a Dallas school for gifted students, says she has bruises on her face, a concussion and two broken ribs.
